Norastouches.blogspot.com

This other blog (see link below) was created to display my decorative items for sale. However as time passes by, the time to paint for sale just eluded me

No special reason as to why I still have this blog... maybe it's just to remind me..... that's where and how I started to be where I am now :)

All items shown are hand-painted personally by yours truly... but now I focus on commissioned jobs. So, I do take orders... but the queue is long... sorry :( .... but if you are willing to wait in the queue... I'm more than obliged to paint for you..... It would be an honour!!!!

T-pot mats

Just finished these tea-pot shaped mats. Haha... had them base-coated almost a year ago but never had the idea what to paint on them until two days ago... and sooooo... now I show-off la hehe. They are finished but unvarnished... need to have the back painted too before I can varnish them. Both sides of the mat may be used if one needs variety... I'd painted different flowers on each of them ... but made them as a set with a scumbled green base :)

Tulips

Daffodil

Tiger Lily

That's it for now... not much to story... my brain has gone to sleep hahaha...goodnite y'all... sweetdreams.

The bin...

When I have worries or is troubled about anything... I turn to my paints and brushes. As I focus on my painting... I let go my worries... good therapy... yes? Today... I got back my car. Darling daughter did stunts with it and sent some guys flying like superman! Thank God... the damage to vehicle and guys were minor... but it sure burned my pockets!!! I'm today officially poorer by RM1450.00.... muahahahaha. Oh well.... anyway... finished the bin for Marina... finished but not varnished yet :) Shown below are the pics of the bin taken at various angles around it....

There you go... spring flowers all around the bin. Going to take a break now... will next tackle her storage bin... a huge rectangular galvanised iron thingy that I'd base-coated a month ago hehe. Same spring flowers all round... have a great weekend ya...

A pat on my back :)

Finished last night's job... kak Nomi has taken her stuffs... Alhamdulillah. Now I can rest a bit before I continue with Marina"s spring flowers on her items :) ... but... muahahahaha... it's time to show what I did... right???? yup!yup!yup! The pics are clearer now... with courtesy of a borrowed camera from my sis-in-law haha

This here is a close-up view of the lilies that I painted on her cutlery boxes. Of course! I have to show you the close-up view... how else would you be able to see the details on it ??? hahahaha... oooohhhhh I so enjoy showing-off... sorry! My kids will have their eyes rolled upwards in utter disgust when mama here gloats about her art piece muahahahaha. Anyway... those cutlery boxes were finally varnished and are now with Kak Nomi, ready to be presented to her sis-in-law.... *sigh* .. she's so lucky!!!

I also painted bouquets of tulips and daisies. Not done those 2 flowers for a very long time... so I thought I'd give them a go this time. Made a matching set there and had them painted on a utility caddy and a rectangular pencil case... actually it's a multipurpose box :) Showed them to Kak Nomi when she came to collect her 2 boxes... and she took them both. Alhamdulillah... that means... I'm still OK with those 2 flowers though I'm out of practice. She's using the case to store her chopsticks... hmmm... that's a good idea actually. It shows that one just needs to be creative and use those items in some other manner... just as long as it serves its purpose well.... no hard and fast rule here!!!

I have another case of tulips and daisies... will have that posted onto my sales blog soon ;) Till we next meet... have a great day y'all. Thanks for dropping by... and do drop by again ;)

My Painting Pals

Sometime 2 or 3 or maybe 4 weeks ago....(can't remember hmm...probably 3 or 4 weeks ago)... Aniza, Zaitun and I met up with Rohaizan for brunch at her condo. It was a good leisurely morning where pals of common interest meet up and talk of anything under the moon and stars. Rohaizan comes back once in a while from Kuwait, and when she does... we try to meet up. In fact... we had another session with her... this time at Aniza's, showing-off and sharing our painting skills ...before she went back to Kuwait. That was good too ;) Anyway... as I was going through my album, I found these 2 pics that I'd not posted yet... so here goes nothing... pics of the 4 of us together at Rohaizan's....

I've been busy painting this week. They are all up for sale... so please do drop by my sales blog ;) at Nora's Touches (link above). I have porcelain mugs, enamel jug, wall plaques and bird houses. Have a look-see ya...

For now... I'm taking a break, posting this onto my blog. Need to varnish the rest before collection tomorrow.... will post those pics tomorrow ya. Till the next post... goodnite... sweetdreams ;)

It's done...

Finally... finished the two cutlery boxes commissioned by kak Nomi for her sis-in-law (lucky lady). Can now breathe a sigh...or maybe two...emmm maybe three sighs.... *sigh*sigh*sigh*.... of relieve.... muahahahaha...and as usual I will show off...hmmm ;P

Painted a mirror image of lily flowered azalea ... a design I copied from PortMeirion Botanic garden stock on each box. It gets easier after many pieces... these are lilies number ...errr...... yikes! I can't remember how many lilies I'd painted hahaha... never mind but I'm happy with this set :)

So what's next?... think will paint something small on mugs.... need to prepare some to show-off this Sunday (19/4). There's a book fair at PWTC and Utusan Publications have a session booked for us around 3-5pm to promote our book. If you are free ... please do drop by and say hi! to us ya :)

After which... I will continue with Marina's galvanised bin and container box... huge pieces. Wait to see ya.... she wants spring flowers on them in soft pastel colours... a challenge for me... hmmmm

My Roses...

I am proud to declare that these roses and the asparagus fern came from my own garden :)

I have been busy gardening... and I now have quite a fair bit of potted plants leading to the entrance... and a few new ones that I'd planted in the flower beds in the garden. Last weekend, Aida and I spent quality time together... weeding!! hahaha she coudn't say no because it was a deal we made. She wanted to go to Central Market to get her name tag done... but CM is not a place I'd like to go... so I made a deal with her. "OK... we shall go to CM... but you have to help me weed first in the morning".... muahahahaha... who can say NO to that, huh??? Clever mama .... muahahahaha.

Anyway... I now have burgundy, scarlet red, pale violet, yellow, white and a batik red-yellow mini rose plants.... don't know why... but I suddenly have the urge to start a rose garden. 2 are in pots, 3 in the ground and 1 will be later transplanted in the bed sometime today ;P

My paintings??? Nay... they are not on hold... I'm still doing them... s-l-o-w-l-y but SURELY!!! hahaha... my tiger lilies are almost done... will show them off soon ya...taa... gtg... have a great day... muahx3

Yet MORE Hydrangeas....

These past 2 weeks I'd done a lot of paintings on tea and cutlery boxes... but only with hydrangeas... sapphire blue and soft violet hydrangeas on pastel-coloured backgrounds. Of course I'm obliged to show them off to you... but again, I've yet to go get a new camera... or at least to go repair the one that I have now!!! But hey... this is Nora... the Great Procrastinator... oh well.... muahahaha. Last few weeks I had Alya's (my son's girlfriend) camera with me... but had to return it last Monday... so now it's back to the old as-cranky-as-me camera ... hehe

Anyway... something is better than nothing... right??? Riggghhhhttttttt ;) ... here goes nothing...

The 2 cutlery boxes .......

.....the 2 tea-boxes... also with hydrangeas......

.....and the tea-pot Kitchen Towel Holder.... these items are all with kak Nomi now... to be given away as gifts to relatives and friends. Kak Nomi has a heart of gold... God Bless her.

That's enough of hydrangeas for now!!! Muahahahahaha... next will be tiger lillies ... again on cutlery boxes for Kak Nomi... and spring flowers on aluminium bin and container for Marina.... soooooo back to the studio ... taa

More UFOs ;)

Did all these in a day... but till now they remain as they are... unvarnished!!! Again I shall ask... what else is new???? It's a bad habit to procrastinate... but it's a habit I find difficult to overcome... can anybody help me here *sigh*

Anyway, this is for Rozie who needed some inspiration... I put these up for you ya. Hopefully you get the inspiration as you wished ;) They are just simple paintings... something I do in between big projects.

The cat door-stopper has roses painted on the butt.... hehehe, the tea-box has hydrangeas on its cover and base.... Kak Nomi has booked the tea-box ;) yup!yup!yup!

The 3 wall plaques are with hydrangeas....have yet to decide whether to put in any writings on them or not. Maybe I shall just leave them as they are and get them varnished... or shall I leave them empty until a customer tells me how they want it???? hmmm.... btw... all these shown here are for sale. Eventually I'll have them posted on the other blog ... once they are done.... of course;)

The last shown here is a wall-hung kitchen towel holder ... also with hydrangeas. This was a day when I just felt like drawing hydrangeas hehehe... needed the practise anyway.... muahahaha

So... that's it for now. Rozie... I hope this helps....

Y'all have a great day ya....
