Norastouches.blogspot.com

This other blog (see link below) was created to display my decorative items for sale. However as time passes by, the time to paint for sale just eluded me

No special reason as to why I still have this blog... maybe it's just to remind me..... that's where and how I started to be where I am now :)

All items shown are hand-painted personally by yours truly... but now I focus on commissioned jobs. So, I do take orders... but the queue is long... sorry :( .... but if you are willing to wait in the queue... I'm more than obliged to paint for you..... It would be an honour!!!!

Laman Workshop 5

Last Saturday we had our 5th workshop organised by Laman Impiana.... as usual for the beginners. This particular group is a rather quiet group unlike the other groups before them ... most of them were really focused and concentrated on their work. It's funny sometimes how we seem to get a group of almost similar characters. I remember the Saloma group was a really boisterous group as in contrast to this particular group. As usual, we had participants from East Malaysia and all over Peninsular... and males too :) The pics below will speak for themselves......

That's the 3 of us... Aniza, Zaitun and I... busy busy busy departing our knowledge and skills to the participants...

At the end of the day... everybody went home with a completed project... hopefully satisfied with what we could give within those limited hours ....

We were told Laman Impiana is collecting a database of past participants. Hopefully by next year, we will be able to have another workshop for the intermediates. In the meantime... the 6th beginner workshop will be held next month, 15 Aug. Just check out details in the Laman magazine ya.... and oh btw.... keep a date with us on 2 August (Sun) at Popular Bookstore, Ikano. We were invited to do a demo of our craft from 1.00 - 3.00pm. See you there?

I'm poofed!!!

I spent the whole day today doing paperwork for an incoming workshop to be held next month at UTM, Skudai, Johore. It has been a looooonnnggggg time since I last did any form of paperwork from a-z... oh boy!!! am I poofed???!!!! My brain cells are forced to work at full gear, full-steam ahead since after dawn till now... with short intervals in between... hahahaha.... not easy I tell you... not when the brain has been at rest a wee bit too long!!!

Since I was glued to the monitor... I also managed to get a few other proposals out for beginner workshops on decorative painting and decoupage... for full and half day courses. Kudos to me... *pat*pat*. Now, all I need is the lesson notes for the project. Everything is in my mind now... words all muddled up with notes lying around everywhere...hehehe.... reminds me of the days when I was writing my thesis to get my degree way back in 1982....

Anyway... dear friends... if ever you are interested in having a workshop with me... please let me tell you now ya... I'm available... all you have to do is to just ask ;)

I'm taking a breather now... going to my Facebook first and then back to the drawing table to paint hydrangeas and geraniums on a pair of footstools... bz bz bz... muah muah MUAH

p/s: Laman Impiana will be having beginner workshops series 5 and 6 on 25/7 and 15/8 respectively.... check it out in Laman( issue 19)... Aniza, Zaitun and I will be conducting the class (as usual)... muahahahahahaha.... see y'all

A long overdue story ... hehehe

I've been busy... and lazy... and been under the weather too... had the writer's block and a 1001 other stuffs running through my life lately so much so that I literally crawled through the days... *sigh* Every now and then I signed-in to my blog.... stared at the screen... only to sign-off almost immediately.... Oh well that's history for now hehehe...and hey... I'm back.... yup!yup!yup! so here goes... updates from the past muahahahaha... as far as memory permits...

We had a another workshop last July 19... yup! that long ago!!!... at Bistro Saloma, Jalan Ampang organised by Laman and Puspanita Ministry of Tourism in conjunction with Flora Fest 2008. It was a huge success with 69 participants! Never had such a big group before... and oh! this time we had 6 males, one of whom was only 10 years old (err...I think hehehe...but I know he's below 12 because his 12 year-old his was there with him!) ... a very enthusiastic chap he was hehehe. As usual Aniza, Zaitun and I mastered the helm with Shikin to help us out... we just couldn't do it without you dear Shikin...

It went well from 9.00am - 5.00pm. The pics below speak for themselves... but at the end of the day, we were all pooped dead tired... ( I know I was...age catching up with me here *sigh* )... but definitely happy and satisfied judging from the enthusiasm showed by the participants. Thank you all... and that's the last of the workshops by Laman this year. There will be more next year... InsyaAllah... this time probably catering for the intermediates instead of for just the beginners.

3rd Laman Workshop - 19 Apr 2008

Last week was a hectic but fruitful week. I had so many things to do all at one go...had to complete and varnish the paintings as Nani had called saying she was coming to collect....so I was doing that in between classes, stealing time whenever possible. Then...had to prepare for the workshop. Had to miss my weekly lunch as I couldn't spare the time :( and to make matters worse...had to do that all alone because none of my kids were available to help me sort and pack things! I was so exhausted at the end of the day... but alas I couldn't sleep...my brain forgot to switch off!!! Slept late...woke up early...tis a wonder how this scrawny body of mine could keep up with the pace!

Anyway...come Saturday, everything was on top gear. Got everything into the car as soon as my son got back from his night flight duty...and drove off almost immediately. Thank God...good traffic flow...but me being me...had to forget the way to Carlton Hotel, Shah Alam la!!!.... *sigh* missed the turning and had to make a U-turn.....but...nah... I was still as cool as cucumber muahahaha ...hey...the show must go on right??? Hehe... to cut the story short... we had a good time...Aniza, Zaiton and I together with the 44 participants. I sincerely hope we managed to instil the love of decorative painting in our participants. I know we made new friends... so...paint away ladies...paint with your hearts...it was a pleasure to be with all of you...
